God Helps Us Pray / Mitchell S Hutchins / GeneralWeekly Devotional for Bulletin / Prayer; Help; Spirit / Romans 8:26–27

The New International Version (1984) Future Glory

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We

do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit

himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot

express. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the

mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the

saints in accordance with God’s will.

We have all experienced a time when we did not know

how, or what, to pray, haven’t we? Well thank God we are

not the only ones that have felt this way because it is

covered here in these Scriptures.

It is covered because others before us also felt this way and

God shared with them that He would help us through the

Holy Spirit. We also know that Jesus is interceding for us at

the right hand of the Father.

What does all of this mean? It means that God loves us

even when we don’t know how to love, and that He will not

leave us in that state but is willing to carry us through until

we can get back on our own two spiritual feet.
