The New International Version (1984) Doing Good to All

6 Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. 3 If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, 5 for each one should carry his own load. Verse 3 tells us to bare, or carry, each other’s burdens. In other words we should care enough about our fellow laborers to help them when they have more than they are able to bear, or carry.

This is one of the reasons why Mark is asking for all of us to share our testimonies of times when God worked in our lives. By sharing these testimonies with others we are encouraging and helping others to know that they are not alone in the path they are on and that God, sometimes through others, will help you carry your load.

When we see our neighbor laboring and toiling hard, do we offer to lend a hand, or do we watch them as they toil and say something to ourselves like, (Why don’t they ask someone for help)?
